I think much of the newer architecture is uninteresting because it has no sense of style or solidity like that of former decades.kenjuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07342414519714356343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449503.post-77369326000077413682008-07-29T21:46:00.000-04:002008-07-29T21:46:00.000-04:00Older buildings are probably over-engineered and d...Older buildings are probably over-engineered and didn't have the "advantages" of advanced techniques in design, and construction or for that matter the advanced materials available now. So what the old builders lacked in math, they made up for in mass. But some of those "old, over-engineered buildings" are still standing after centuries whilc their modern counterparts have a life expectancy measured in decades...Mojohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03498213932233245032noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449503.post-18586251635993827942008-07-29T20:45:00.000-04:002008-07-29T20:45:00.000-04:00Terrific shot, Carmi! There's a good reason why they are the reference in phrases such as "pillar of strength", "a pillar of the community".

This Thematic Photographic has proven to be very fulfilling, though I'm surprised you didn't hear my very audible groan last Wednesday night. Monochromatic!? No color??? Well, I did several and learned so much in the process. Thanks, again. I have posted one more tonight. Macro MonochromaticBarbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14401701081792131171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449503.post-736799375397378052008-07-29T20:19:00.000-04:002008-07-29T20:19:00.000-04:00makes me think of the Bible story of Samson when h...makes me think of the Bible story of Samson when he pulled the pillars down in a last show of strength before he died.

nice shot and happy WW!carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02449987730223591945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449503.post-9583686349833305742008-07-29T20:16:00.000-04:002008-07-29T20:16:00.000-04:00What intrigues me most, Carmi, is that Pillars was...What intrigues me most, Carmi, is that Pillars was this week's 100-word prompt at Velvet Verbosity.

The timing of you posting this picture is way cool.Susan Helene Gottfriedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12778191943289129869noreply@blogger.com
