I could sit and look at water for HOURS. Now, if only I did indeed have hours, or minutes even!

We are on the Chesapeake Bay and about 15 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean. There is water everywhere around here but I haven't had a lot of time to shoot it yet. It almost looks like an ...That's one amazing shot. It almost looks like an oil painting with the fine ripples in the surface.

The closest body of water to me really depends on what qualifies as a body of water. There are hundreds of impoundments both natural and man-made in the state -- several of which come with very interesting histories. Then of course, there's the Atlantic Ocean. There are easily a half-dozen named ponds/lakes within a 15-mile radius of my house, but I guess the closest one would be Shelley Lake -- where my boat house shot was taken. I've spent quite a few afternoons and evenings at that park doing various things. We used to play softball in an open field not far from the shore (with home plate facing away from the water, thanks very much!). There's an arts center there, canoe/paddle boat rentals, a walking/biking trail... it's dog friendly (leash laws apply) and fishing and unpowered boating are allowed (no swimming or powercraft for liability reasons I'm sure). A little further away is Lake Johnson which may or may not allow power boats (since I don't have one I don't have any reason to know), but also features more in the way of amenities. Johnson also hosts live jazz concerts by local artists lakeside during the summer. One of my favorite local singers, Susan Reeves, plays there sometimes and the last time I was there was for one of her shows.

You can't go far around here without hitting water in one form or another. Go far enough (about 125 miles) and you'll hit the Atlantic Ocean. Which is easily my favorite of the available options. I think a look at my photos from the last week will tell you why.Mojohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03498213932233245032noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449503.post-51251993985294210122008-09-02T21:54:00.000-04:002008-09-02T21:54:00.000-04:00Gosh this is just gorgeous....amazing!
