A brief-yet-ongoing journal of all things Carmi. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll reach for your mouse to click back to Google. But you'll be intrigued. And you'll feel compelled to return following your next bowl of oatmeal. With brown sugar. And milk.

Purple vista
The non-gender-specific meteorological expert (aka weatherman in a pre-PC world) is calling for grayness and rain tomorrow. Which is unfortunate, because I'll be riding my bike through it, and I'm not usually at my happiest when I pedal through the wet.
To boost my mood to the point that I'll actually be able to write cohesive prose - it's an on week for my newspaper column, among other major deliverables on my writer's plate - I wanted to post this somewhat colorful and hopeful image.
It's a scene from Deerhurst, and every time I look at it, I'm right back in a blissfully peaceful place with the one person on this planet who finishes my sentences, laughs at my admittedly lame sense of humor and tilts her head just so when I lag behind her because I wanted to take just one more picture.
Your turn: Do you dawdle, too? Why?

Hi Carmi! Great picture! it stopped me in my tracks. I am here via Michele, of course.
ReplyDeleteDo I dawdle? Hmmm... yes, I do. Normally I run at mach 5, but then I get rebellious, shut down and dawdle a whole day away.
Then I go back to being a rocket again.
Carmi, if you fly me to London, I will singlehandedly run your garage sale! Tee hee
ReplyDeletethose are Thistle's aren't they?
ReplyDeletehere from M
I dawdle to take photos, but not as much as my husband (which may be why he takes better photos). Those thistles make me nostalgic for Scotland.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say, Michele sent me
ReplyDeleteHello, Michele sent me :)
ReplyDeleteanything purple is perfect!
ReplyDeleteYou have to dawdle...or else you might miss something!
I *should* dawdle, but I don't do it often enough. Glad you do, though. Makes for some great shots. ;)
ReplyDeleteHere via michele!
Michele sent me up north to observe your gray skies--and quickly scoot back down here for the sunny skies of NC.
ReplyDeleteYour question hits me with great timing, Carmi. My girlfriend was getting slightly frustrated with my dawdling yesterday. We went to the NC Zoo and I was taking too long at some of the locations with my camera. But since you're a photographer as well, you know how it is. You can't rush animals and if you don't wait for a good photo-op, you'll just end up with boring photos. So I'm a dawdler, Carmi, and proud of it. LOL
I dawdle because I have dawdlers...kids don't tend to go at my regular speed. Stay dry!
ReplyDeleteMore great images, Carmi. the pic of the thistle blossoms warms the bllod of my scottish ancestry.
ReplyDeleteMichele sent me, again.
In a pre-"PC" world, you have to watch the news to get the forecast. Thus, it is either a man or a woman that is offering you on meteorological predictions. As such, it may be perfectly valid to say "weatherman".
ReplyDeleteIn a PC world, we use Forecastfox or find a decent weather website and avoid people altogether.
i believe my mother sent me off to school everyday with a kiss on the cheek, "here's your lunch" and a "don't doodle and dawdle on your way".
ReplyDeleteNow that I am older I find creative ways to dawdle, since I can't take my time walking home from school.
Michele sent me again, Carmi. What's up with that?
ReplyDeleteThistle is an interesting plant. Your picture looks great, Carmi, illustrating it's best traits admirably. But despite your lovely picture--it's not the plant I want growing in my lawn. That's the interesting thing about a good picture. It can often make us think we want something that we don't. In this case Thistle, tomorrow it might be dog food or a new stereo...
Hi, Michele sent me again. Where is Deerhurst?
ReplyDeleteI dawdle because I am. Is there a better reason?
ReplyDeleteMichele sent me here today Carmi. Great photo, per usual.
sure, i dawdle. i take time to smell the flowers now. i don't want to miss out on the finer things in life.
ReplyDeleteI dawdle and it is to take in everything around me, experiencing my own little world to the fullest. Love the pic! Here from Michele's
ReplyDeleteIt's rough being away from the spouse. I hear ya. My hub was just off on a business trip. Getting into a pretty headspace is sure to help.
ReplyDeleteMichele sent me.
i do because i like to look at everything... take it all in...
ReplyDeletegreat pix...
Here from Michele.
ReplyDeleteLove the thistle. We have yellow ones and white ones here but I haven't seen the Canadian thistle this far south. The rain gets here tomorrow (Tuesday).
I have spent most of my life pressing on, doing ten things at once (I guess they call that multitasking) and generally putting off doing anything for myself. So I've taken a break, found photography and stopped to smell the roses. (Or I would if I didn't have this chronic sinus thing with the pollen.) So, I dawdle a lot right now.
I've looked at this image a few times in recent visits but never comment. I now can put my finger on what it is that draws me too it - it reminds me of our trip to Scotland a few years back. That was an amazing trip and one very much dawdle worthy.
ReplyDelete(Yes from time to time I do dawdle.)
