And in the interest of total transparency, I have issues with vegetables in general. I'll eat them because I sort of have to if I want to stay on the right side of the health curve. But the prospect of biting into a head of unadorned lettuce, or chomping down on a juicy tomato weirds me out.
Make it a lovely salad with dressing and I'm in. But as a straight-up snack, not so much. Call it a very first-world problem.
But shooting pictures of them is another story altogether, and I've been pointing lenses at both fruits and veggies for years. I even came up with a name for it: #Fruitography. It's led to a number of fun moments in grocery stores - including some tense conversations with the security folks - but thankfully no arrests or lifetime bans. Yet.
So here's an orange pepper in the midst of a bunch of other orange peppers in the local Farm Boy store. Between the color, the texture, and the light, it was a none-too-subtle reminder that I need to get over my overgrown-child food hangups and eat more of these things.
Or maybe I should just stop fretting over what I eat and enjoy the glory of something grown from the earth. Simple and complex at the same time. Apologies, grocery security types: I'll be back.

Veggie porn. Love it. I like certain veggies but can pass on others. Roasted under a broiler, with olive oil and salt and pepper can really improve their edibility.
