It ...Persia and Tina have collaborated on this one. It is a candle. Specifically, it is a very large rectangular candle in our friends' house. It sits on a knee-wall and it has multiple wicks.

The first image is a view of one of the sides. The wax seems to have cooled at different rates, leading to the interesting patterns on the surface.

The second image is taken top-down. The round feature is the little bit of wax that has been melted by the burning wick - its stub is dead-centre.

Thank you so much for being so gracious and creative with your guesses. I'll have to think extra-hard to come up with a photographic challenge to top this.

Suggestions are welcome.carmilevyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00360045114379957605noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449503.post-1156867005056505542006-08-29T11:56:00.000-04:002006-08-29T11:56:00.000-04:00rivet, pitted metal as part of a forged steel mach...rivet, pitted metal as part of a forged steel machine, perhaps a hand garden tool left out in the weather?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449503.post-1156858830847710062006-08-29T09:40:00.000-04:002006-08-29T09:40:00.000-04:00Still no idea here, Carmi.
