Zach's mosaic
It's tough being surrounded by a wife and kids who have artistic abilities in their blood when I'm still struggling with stick figures. But I make do: they generate amazing creations that end up on shelves, walls, and wherever else they will be seen by visitors to our home.
Here's Zach's latest. Suffice to say we've been very careful about where it goes. He's done an amazing job rebuilding it from its first fall...we don't want to go through a second one!
The question is: where should we hang this for maximum effect?

That's pretty cool. He's into soccer, I take it? I couldn't tell you where to hang it. That's a toughy. Is it heavy?

How big is it? I immediately thought it looked like it would be lovely in a garden or outside somewhere. (If it can stand up to the weather, of course.)
ReplyDeleteI, too, have no artistic ability. My parent's passed all of theirs onto my brother. :)
Now stick figures are not to be sneezed at. ;) My son has come up with some amazing litlte people doing everything from climbing mountains to surfing. See, you just might be more talented than you give yourself credit for!

my husband is an artist and my son is developing a bit of an interest in drawing too. i cannot draw. i can write. my husband can't even compose a respectable email. i'll cling to that ;)
ReplyDeletei'd suggest leaning it against a wall while propped on a shelf if it has already fallen once. it's really nice. obvious talent. poor daddy, all he can do is write....

ReplyDeleteI've always envisioned setting up a family art gallery, either in a bedroom, a front-door facing wall or on a well-lit hallway wall. I think it would be neat to make a small name plaque below it with his name and year and possibly add one of those mini-lights used for masterpieces. Another thing I've done is designate a space for the Art Piece of the Month - over a mantle or couch - as a rotational spot for new artwork every month. Zach does nice work!

ReplyDeleteZach is quite talented, to say the least. I would anchor it to the wall, but actually have it displaying on a shelf. Somewhere that it's only about five feet off the floor, thus visitors can study the detail work of it. Definitely in a main room, not a bedroom, unless Zach prefers it in his room? I'm thinkin' family/sitting room... Again, kudos to Zach on the accomplishment! (I draw in stick as well...)
ReplyDeleteYou should hang it on the inside above your front door. That way you will always see it as you leave.

I also vote for a garden/porch/patio. It has an outdoorsy vibe to it.
