Interlocked

The just-opened grocery store near our house still exudes the new-car patina of a place yet to be discovered by the masses. Little elements of its design make it a slightly less creepy place to be when the sun goes down. For example, the cart garage area in the front of the store is bathed in abnormally intense light, an effect amplified by the day-glow yellow shade of the carts.

I thought the artificial light made the yellow paint look somewhat surreal. And even if I'm wrong, it added a little spice to an otherwise boring trip to pick up milk and OJ.

The more that I spend time reading blogs, the more I realize how we are all "interlocked" in ways we could never have dreamed before.

Carmi's back - YAY!

Wow, your grocery store has very cool carts. We still have the old-fashioned metal ones.

Happy Sunday!

I just love your photos! And, I don't think I have ever seen yellow carts before!

Kenju said it beautifully...and the picture takes new meaning.

I like the carts that look like little cars that your kids can drive around in the store. If only I could fit...

may i just say those are definitely cool-looking grocery carts. i've only ever seen the metal variety.

hope you''re feeling much better (maybe it's time to see a doctor if it's gone on for 2 weeks? or maybe you still aren't getting enough rest?) :)

Those are very rock-n-roll carts you have there! Love the pic. Hope you are having a nice weekend. Nothing like a little shopping to top off a Sunday! Michele sent me to say that!

Carmi, Michele sent me back this time.

I am not used to yellow carts either; most of ours are stainless steel or chrome. Color is better!

I just read an article on Ryan Seacrest (of AMercian Idol fame) and how excited he got over some grocery store's brand new carts. The yellow is very nice, making a shopping trip more pleasurable.

LOL! That is so COOL! That would really wake you up on one of those bleary-eyed mornings where you're making an emergency run for milk and bread. :-)

Love the yellow carts. Do they have little miniature carts for the kids to push? When I was little these were common in the stores.

Here from Michele.

My husband just discovered a supermarket where you have to slip a quarter into the slot to use the carts. Way too complicated. I don't like food shopping anyway... and this just makes it worse!

wow, what a bright yellow. Makes one want to push a cart to go shopping. Here via Michele's this time.

To me, those look like some odd farm implement made by John Deere or something. It's that bright yellow pain and the way they're all piled up together. I think you could post this on a "What is it?" site and get some really interesting answers.

I'm waiting for you to do the 4 things meme. I KNOW yours will be interesting. So go at it.

Are those brand stankin' new grocery carts? Ones that haven't been germified by hand-caught sneezes and baby drool?

Carmi...loved this shot. I can see you down on the floor getting it because I have done that to get that perfect shot! Really great!

Thanks for sending me the link.
