Quick note: I've started something new on my blog. It's called Thematic Photographic, and every Wednesday evening, I upload a new photo and a theme for that week. Hopefully, you'll post your own similarly-themed photo and paste the link into a comment here. That way, we all share, learn and enjoy life through our respective lenses.
About this photo: Taken on a restaurant table in our hometown of Montreal. My wife and I managed to get a rare couple of hours of alone time thanks to in-laws who saw that we needed it. The light was super dim, so out came the spidery-looking tripod and remote control for some long exposure fun. Our server, who ignored us for most of the time we were there, was none the wiser.

Alone time is so vital in a relationship where there are children. After I learned that they hadn't been on a date since sometime during her pregnancy, one of the things I did for Erica when I was nannying was suggest she and Kurt go out some night. They had such a great time reconnecting that for Mother's Day, Kurt asked me if I would mind if they went out again while I took care of Sophia. Of course I didn't mind. So they have had two dates in the nine months since Sophia was born. Wow.

Salt shaker? That's a cool shot. I love indoor long-exposure shots. The colors seem so much more vibrant than with a flash. And I'm sure the restaurant wouldn't have been too happy with a flash going off every few minutes.

ReplyDeleteEven though we're at the BEACH this week, I managed to find quite a bit of wood in some way, shape or form. It hit me I should link it to your TP this week...and it gave me an excuse to post a few other shots I hadn't yet.
Ready for this week's theme, even though I'm using my substitute baby camera :).

ReplyDeleteAlone time is so very important. We try to get out at least once a month, just the two of us. We have dinner, drinks, maybe a movie, but generally we just sit and talk.

The wood makes me think it was a very nice romantic dinner. Just the picture reminds me of candlelit dinners and fine dining and a glass of wine. I'd say there's wood in my WW picture but the stick is so little you'd be hard pressed to tell. LOL
ReplyDeleteHow did you manage to shoot such a long exposure and keep the color that true? I normally get a significant red-shift in conditions like that. (Being relatively new to digital, I sometimes forget about custom white balance.) Do you carry around a gray card in addition to your minipod??
