Tower of power

Climb me
Williamsburg, TN, January 2009

Normally I'm not terribly impressed by the gigantic signs for fast food restaurants that mar the landscape of the southern U.S. (and presumably the northern half, too, but frankly I was too busy dodging an ice storm earlier in the trip to notice.) But this time, I found myself parked right next to one, and I found this perspective a little different. I thought about the poor soul whose job it is to climb this thing.

Definitely not for me.

Your turn: Does this make you feel small? Why/why not?

It doesn't make me feel small, but like you, I am darn glad I don't have to climb it! Back in the Great Depression, my dad used to climb on and paint water towers and similar things, to make extra money. I don't know how he did it without feeling a panic attack!

I think I would feel small were I standing there. I also think that if you were at the top, it would appear much higher than from the ground. Terrific perspective. Funny how something completely uninteresting can make for a great shot if you find the right place from which to shoot.

Nah. The ocean makes me feel small. But not this.

I do have another "Up" offering for the week though...

What an interesting angle. You have such an incredible eye.

Very fun shot, but it does make me a bit dizzy. No way would that be the job for me!

Small no, hungry yes. Nice shot, brutal in its own way.

I agree with Mojo on this one. Nature makes me feel small, but this felt fat!

Nice shot, the angle is great! I wouldn't like to climb that myself...I hate ladders! I also hate the many signs that pollute our skies here....they also tend to interfere of many a perfect photo op! ;)

Small? Wouldn't have thought immediately of that perspective. The picture makes me feel "soft" and "unarmored". Which I suppose means, vulnerable.

Dizzying perspective! I would not want to have to climb it either.

It makes me feel short. Of course I am short, so....
It feels like my "up" photo for this week. And I felt short shooting it, maybe thats the same as "small" but less emotional?

It reminds me of a rocket, too but just at first view.

Happy late WW!
