Temporary colors
London, ON, September 2011
The inevitable transition of green to brilliant color to emptiness gives us all a very temporary opportunity to appreciate things that do not last. Autumn plays out differently depending on where you live, but the common theme seems to be its blink-or-miss-it nature.
Which is why I'd like to devote a week-long Thematic theme -
"welcome autumn" - to it. Because what better excuse to record the season than an online fall foliage photo share-fest?
Your turn: Take a picture that supports the autumn theme and post it to your blog - or find one you've already posted online - and leave a comment here letting everyone know where to find it. Drop by other participants to share the photographic joy. Repeat throughout the week, and don't hesitate to pull your friends in, too. Up North, we welcomed Autumn a while back and have already hugged her and said goodbye… here are a few shots of a fall trip into Denali National Park that I took in early September.
Carmi, I like your rather slightly autumn photo as well! All is good though, that means a bit longer autumn for us all right! Here's my autumn

My favorite time of year. Other than my birthday. :-)

Oooh. I always love autumn leaf close-ups! Nice shot.
Of course, I didn't do any close ups for this one, but here are mine:

Carmi - great photo, beautiful colors against a grey background. And for you "blink-or-miss-it nature", you must have been watching the weather for Northern Utah. Today’s high was in the 80’s (27°C), and the Weather Channel is predicting we’ll have a high of 49°F (9°C) by Thursday.
.
"Autumn? We don't need no stinkin' autumn!"
.
Tomorrow I'll have some autumn pictures for ya.
Not to worry, you won't miss a thing - the state DEP has a website forecasting and tracking peak foliage color. We're always looking out for our leaf-peepers.
I have to look back into the archives to be able to take part in this week's theme - I'm welcoming spring! My meagre offering is here.
Carmi, what is that long redish thing in your photo that appears to be a candle?
I love the fall, it's only drawback being that it is followed by winter. Here's my pictures for this theme.
I use to dread Fall.Mainly because I love summer... Now, I appreciate the change in weather, colors, and the leaves falling... here is my entry

I am using a different blog layout as a trial. So I would appreciate comments on how you find it - as well as your comments on my autumn post.

For the first time in my life, I am actually feeling relieved that the summer here in Arizona is ending. The temperatures were dangerously high, and it's nice to be able to actually concentrate inpeace on natures changing colors!
Ah, fall.
Our leaves around town are still green, but I better take a closer look today, on my way home. The sunflowers are in full bloom though.
I have these fall photos from 3 years ago,

Can't compete with N. American colour, so I've done a bit of mellow fruitfulness here
As luck would have it, I just posted what I consider autumn goodness.
Carmi LOVE the photo, reminds me of camping.

Sara, I couldn't leave a comment on your post so here it is, lovely shots...somebody was having a great time welcoming in autumn!
Here's my second set, 'though they may not look very Autumnish.
Autumn has come early to Georgia this year so I actually have two posts on autumn on my blog
http://young-eclectic-encounters.blogspot.com/2011/09/oh-no-fall-begins-in-georgia.html
and todays post.
I'm afraid that because of the lack of rain we will not have as many bright colors this year.

Hello Carmi, I love the photo you've posted. The tree and fall colors stand out beautifully. As it happens I posted on Autumn yesterday and Karen suggested I share my post with you here. Here's the link.
