"Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like."Why are we so concerned with what others think? I realize we all want to be accepted, to a certain extent. But somewhere along the way we seem to have lost the script.
Will Rogers
Wouldn't it be neat if we spent less energy worrying what folks think of our cars, our clothes or the last tchatchkeh that we bought, and more time simply trying to be better people with what we've already got?

I agree!
Great sentiments, and I totally agree. It does seem rather pointless nowadays. One of my family members just boughts a prestigious car, and seems only interested in showing it off to others (!).
It sometimes takes a lot of effort to get yourself out of that mindset - you can find yourself in it without thinking about it. In fact I think that's one of the fundamental pieces of attitude maintenance that sane people have to perform regularly - remind themselves that there is much more to life than fancy cars and phones.
Yep!
Sometime in middle middle age, comparing yourself and your stuff to others and their stuff disappears. You relax and enjoy life. I'm there and it's sweet. Happy Holidays Carmi.
Absolutely....and keep reminding myself about what really matters.
