One jet in a big sky

High in the sky where the sun’s last rays fight to be seen before everything goes dark, a commercial jet leaves a contrail behind as it tries and fails to stay in the light.

I stand far below and wonder if anyone on-board is looking out the window. Are they taking in the wonder, too?

I’d like to think they are. Maybe they’re even shooting the same scene through time-worn plastic windows. I hope they know they’re not alone.

Shades up. Eyes wide open. Curiosity engaged. We see a lot more moments like this when we do. We may even connect - silently - with total strangers far away who feel the same way.
