My favourite tree

Is it weird to have a favourite tree?

Even if it is, this is mine. Or one of them. Why limit ourselves?

Whenever I visit, I wonder how it came to be like this, springing almost horizontally off of the riverbank, its canopy barely clearing the rushing waters below.

It must have its reasons, I imagine.

    Fantastic tree! I live in Saskatchewan, where huge old trees (in my area anyway) are few and far between. There's one in town that I keep meaning to take a photo of before the wind takes it down. -Kate
