Quoted, interviewed, etc.

I had a bit of an eventful day at work today. I've been covering the legal battle between BlackBerry maker Research In Motion and NTP. The judge in the case held a hearing today and ruled that the two sides have to work out a final settlement. He declined to allow the BlackBerry service to be completely shut down in the U.S. It was big news in the business/tech world.

Why does this matter?

Because I was interviewed by a whole whack of journalists. I was on television (Report on Business TV has the piece here), radio (Montreal, Saskatchewan, Kitchener, and Ottawa), and in print. I'm going to be in tomorrow's New York Times and Globe and Mail. National Public Radio is running an interview here. This coming Monday, I'm going to be interviewed on Canada AM.

In short, I am a media whore. Today was likely the most surreal day I've had in a very long time. I love what I do and can't imagine doing anything else.

More later...

  4. Your ears must have been burning because we were talking about you at dinner! I happened to see the news a day or two ago and the Blackberry case was all the rage. I asked my hubby about it, him being a stock broker, and he said that yes indeed it's a huge thing and that he feels that they'll definitely settle and that the service won't be shut down. Either way, I said, Carmi must be busy because he is the expert on this!

Hope you're finding time to breathe this week!

  15. That's so cool, Carmi! I'm not surprised they decided not to shut down the Blackberry service. With all the people I know whose jobs force them to have a Blackberry, it would have been disastrous. (Although I'm not entirely sure my friends would have minded.)

  17. Michele sent me up North to see you, Carmi.

You've been getting a number of mentions in the press lately, Carmi. I remember a week or two ago the NY Post ran an article excerpting one of your articles--or maybe quoting you.

More of this kind of exposure and you'll be able to get into the real money of widespread syndication.

The Blackberry story is one that I've only looked at a little. My main interest was how it'd affect the stocks of the tech sector.
