A brief-yet-ongoing journal of all things Carmi. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll reach for your mouse to click back to Google. But you'll be intrigued. And you'll feel compelled to return following your next bowl of oatmeal. With brown sugar. And milk.
Michele sent me to see your ode to Hemingway. It's a lovely picture, Carmi.
I finally decided on a camera. Sorta. But I'm going cheap and getting a Canon 12X optical zoom. Either the IIs that's being phased out or the IIIS that comes out in April. *sigh* No dSLR for me, Carmi.
I love sitting on the beach and just smelling the salt air, listening to the sounds of the waves crash and looking out into the blue ocean. Very relaxing. Great pic!
Thanks, everyone, for your thoughtful comments on this pic. Some random thoughts...
JESSICA: I took this image in Florida a couple of months back during our family vacation there. I'm back in winter's grip in Ontario. Thankfully, the kids love playing in the snow.
UTENZI: I often think of Ansel Adams when I dream about future cameras. His best work came from a simple box camera. I think your images will stand out no matter what you shoot with.
ANNIE: Good questions all. I'll never know: I never asked him and, as far as this man knows, I was never there. I saw him sitting there, and shot quickly and quietly before moving on.
KENJU: LOL. I know I'm not that old. I was simply betraying my long-held adoration of all things Hemingway. Somewhere between his work and Fitzgerald's, my love of literature was born.
MARGALIT: A total stranger. Although I've taken similarly poignant images of my father, I haven't had the courage thus far to share them here. I wrestle with this every time I choose to point my pen or my lens toward a member of my family.
I love the blue green color of the ocean at this point. It doesn't often have the right light to look this way in Virginia Beach, probably has something to do with the sloping ocean bottom here. Here again from Michele.

Back by assignment. But I have a thing for Hemingway. I hereby step aside for others.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
I would love to be gazing out over the water... but I have a feeling that it wouldn't take long for frost bite to set in :(

This image makes me wonder...
ReplyDeleteIs it a daily ritual for him to come and sit amid the sand and salt of the sea? Is he reminiscing as he gazes out to the horizon?
I enjoyed my visit. Thankyou.
