Shoots

Because it's been such a busy writing week for me, I haven't spent as much time with the camera as I would like. My wife came to the same conclusion when she realized we haven't been taking pictures a whole lot in recent days. Admittedly, I felt sad when I mulled it over for a few seconds: what moments did we miss? Now we'll never know.

Time to get back behind the lens, then.

This image is one of the oodles captured when we went to the great peninsula to the south last winter. I rather liked the visual flow of the leaves. This picture brought me comfort when we returned home and our windows were filled with frost and snow.

This speaks of warmth, togetherness and peace: which, not altogether coincidentally, is what I'm feeling right now as I listen to our kids play together on a Sunday morning and I watch my wife get our home's day underway.

I hope you'll take a moment to slowly consider these three related concepts: Warmth, togetherness and peace. May your Sunday - and every day beyond - be filled with ample amounts of both.

Your turn: What makes you smile from your heart on a quiet weekend morning?

This question is easy for me. Wild critters. I love to watch the birds and rabbits outside my windows. I have occasional deer but it's mostly smaller animals. I even like to watch the evil cat that keeps eating birds near my bird feeders. I guess he thinks that it's a cat feeder.

  2. The cardinals outside my back door, the frogs on the deck and in the window, reading the Sunday paper, hot coffee ever-flowing and just basking in the aura of peacefulness. Tomorrow wil be another story entirely!

  3. Hi...from Michele's today.
In answer to your question...the sun shining brightly, birds flying to my Chinaberry tree and their feeders giving much more to me in the form of a symphony than I give to them with food, that first cup of fragrant coffee, and the antics of my cats and dogs. Life is good.
Loved your photo...you captured the concept of peace and tranquility.

  4. Hi Carmi! I'm here from michele's, although I probably would have popped by regardless. What a beautiful post. We are fortunate to be living surrounded by palms, and I appreciate the new association you gave me for them...

What makes me smile from my heart?.... Hmmmm... there are so many things....... The sound of the mourning doves in our back yard in the morning, the way a slight breeze makes our buddha bamboo speak to us, the smell of an approaching thunder storm, sharing a cup of coffee with my love first thing in the morning in our back patio........

Thank you for the guestion - always nice to think of reasons to be grateful.. Wishing you all the same!

  6. Hey Carmi. As always, a visit to your blog brings a smile to my face. I'm thinking of a nice long walk with my little puppy. Although if we get caught in a downpour, I might not be smiling so hard. But heck, it's only water! I LOVE that picture. Do you mind if I use it for a screensaver? I'm YEARNING for a trip to the beach!

  7. Michele sent me back, Carmi. I meant to say before that I love palm fronds; they are so graceful in the wind and make a nice clacking noise. I went to see Deni last night - but I'll go back.

  9. Great question, Carmi. My Asheville Potter son is in town for his brother's bachelor party. I got some great shots of he and my husband watching the World Cup. And then of my son under the black netting picking blueberries. After he picked enough to make himself near ill, he picked some for me. The whole scene of this 6ft 2" guy under the netting on his knees picking his favorite homegrown fruit made my heart smile!

  14. Wow, palm fronds. I dreamed about palm fronds last nght, because they used to be the schach with we lived in CA and now we have to use pine boughs. I liked the palm fronds better.

My heart smiles when my children are getting along, we're all having fun playing something like Yahtzee or Scrabble, and there's plenty of tasty snacks in the kitchen. I'm really easy to please, evidentally. Just a bit os Shalom Bayit and I'm a happy camper.

What makes me smile from the heart is knowing that I am safe, healthy and able to provide for myself and thankful for that. Seeing my little furkids happy to wake up to another day and happy to see me.

  21. Today I made homemade granola. It is yummy and special and it made the whole house smell wonderful.
The sunshine at about 7:30 am makes me smile. It shines through our bedroom window in the most beautiful way.
    Happy Sunday to you.

  22. Michele sent me again, Carmi. This time as we competed for Barbie's attention. LOL

Another thing to make me smile is candy. I love candy and first thing in the morning is just as fine for me as last thing at night. Lately I've been working on the tiny butterfinger bars but I have some boxes of Sugar Babies that I'll get to soon. Sugar is so nice!
