Pile of...


...what?

    spinach. you needs to build your strength up after the party?
    i love all the threading and weaving of it. the leaves piled up. and well yum (if that is what it is... its made me wanna go and make a spinach quiche)

    i love the photo below of noah too(and you) the bits of cake around his mouth are lovely.

    At first glance I thought it was a pile of tea leaves. Now I think it's a pile of vegetables. They look like swamp cabbage to me! Or keda is right, spinach!

    I think you put the veggies in a bowl, made sure it was compact, then turned the bowl over, hence the slightly concave shape of the pile. You placed it this way so it'll make the veggies more attractive to eat.

    I'd have used a macro lens. Not sure why, but for some reason i see it REALLLLLLLLLLLY close up.

    And you took the photo for the same reason you take all photos: because the subject was there and you could.

    I think you put all our spinach together to make sure u had enough because Popeye is coming over for dinner!...U called him to come over because unless I am mistaken, you have been painting, cleaning and reorganizing the house , if I go by your wifes blog...Unless you have already finished all the work ofcourse...at any rate, strong arms are always handy during times like that....It could be a thankyou supper for his help too lmao!

    Because it's all about texture. Texture can be experienced in more than one of our senses, and 'seeing' textured things if very satisfying.

    This is what my leftovers look like when I've forgotten they've been left-over in the fridge for what may as well be centuries.
    I'm not referring to the color, but to the way the food holds the shape of the container it was stored in for so long.

    And seriously, Carmi, I never care what motivates you to take these photos - I'm just glad something does. ;)

    After a hard days work (or- maybe not) you walk into the kitchen smelling the sweet smells of home cooked food, hearing the laughter of the children playing in the other rooms, and the hum of your wife as she sings along to the stirring of the spoon.

    then suddenly you see it. Out of the corner of your eye.. is it alive? you avoid looking at it on the off chance its staring at you but your human nature gets the better of you and you look.

    its there.
    its green...
    its...
    SNOT MAN!!!!

    ..then you wake up from your afternoon nap to see a wonderfull vegan-styled meal awaiting your attack with the fork..

    Oh, that last comment was just ... well, gross.
    Let's see. It looks like some sort of cooked greens, collards or mustard, although it really isn't the season for them yet. As to the why? Because it was there?

    I don't know what it is...it certainly didn't come from my kitchen. I know I have been serving lots of interesting things on my healthy kick...but nothing like this.

    YOu take pictures like this because you can. You see beauty and interest in so many things, that most of us overlook.

    I'll fess up now:

    This is a pile of green tea leaves. A colleague of mine drinks it at the office, and thought I'd like to take a picture of it because he knows I like to capture bizarro images.
