I'm more or less seeing this color these days, so I thought I should at least reflect my mood with a photograph.
(BTW, I'm touched by your comments following my last blog entry. It's heartening to know that I'm surrounded by such a supporting community of caring people. Please know that your words have inspired me. Maybe this writing thing can repair our world after all.)

ReplyDeleteI believe that the pen,or the keyboard, is indeed mightier than the sword. Each person who reads the written word has a personal experience with the author. Of course not all writings call for peace and understanding. Some are quite inciteful.

ReplyDeletein that picture (perhaps from the circular shapes of the nut and bolt) i dont see it as angry... perhaps if there was a sharp object, then i would see it as angry, but the curves of the bolt end (almost nipple like isnt it?!) and the fire engine red, the feeling i get from that is that your feeling SEXY....
...and, i think, why not?
everyone's entitled to a sexy day once in a while... let your hair down... do your thing... :D

Hi Carmi, I like this photo. At first the colour itself overwhelmed my perceptions, it was a moment or two before the object resolved and was identified. very interesting, red is such a primal colour - I guess you could say I was seeing red.

ReplyDeletei've spoken to 2 friends over the last 2 days with family in beirut, who i was very concerned about. all are well at present.
i don't quite know what to say. these are such dark days. and i so wish that our peaceful words had more effect.
all we can do is keep on i guess, with hope.
wonderful picture again. i agree with h&b... 'nipples' which is good as it raised a smile at least.

ReplyDeleteHow wonderful life could be if we could all learn to agree to live together despite our differences. To drop our pride, traditions, etc and make peace as one. It will never happen but what a thought.

Of course if I see a nut, bolt and expanse of red, I think fire hydrant. But those are supposedly yellow in Canada so my brain has no clue.
ReplyDeleteThere are times when I "see red", but I have to tell myself that this only has an effect on me. Those who really make me see red will not change. It is my blood pressure that goes up, heart that pounds and my body that the wear and tear of anger really hurts. So, you say what you believe to be the truth, in a straightforward manner with no meanness included and then you just have to let it go. Maybe you change someones mind, maybe you don't. If the response is less than courteous, and that is to be expected from some, remember that their anger towards your words hurts them.

ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are lower you JPG compresion and live with a larger file size when dealing with red. Its the first and worst color for creating artifacts as you push the compression algorithm.

ReplyDeleteI often express my inward emotions through artistic mean, whether it be photography, pen & ink sketches, or a long solemn aire on the pipes.
I think it's definately the way to go. It does no good to keep it pent up inside, and even worse to have it come out in negative fashion. Be as creative as you will, I say. Red pictures? Go for it.
hi carmi... haven't read you in a few days so i'm not sure what this is all about... going to catch up after this but wanted to comment on the red cause i had such a hard time capturing a good close up of red... is there a trick to it?
