Let there be light

I look up a lot. I think most folks spend so much time staring down or immediately ahead that they miss a whole lot of interesting stuff going on just above their heads.
I took this one at the base of Seattle's Space Needle as I wandered around the gift shop. It struck me as a particularly cheery place, with the kind of view that, while not as overtly spectacular as the ones from the top of the structure, was memorable in its own way.
As I squeezed the shutter, I smiled to myself as I realized that everyone would be taking pictures from the top, but only I would be taking this particular scene home. Sometimes, it's comforting to be contrarian.

I remember seeing the photo from the top when you posted it, Carmi, but I like the one from below better, since it is unique of that particular place. As you say, not many people photograph from that angle. (Just you and Anna)

I'm different in that I'm deaf, and have finally not only made peace with it, but have become proud that it's part of who I am :)

I really like this angle and the challenge to look up. i often take "different" pictures and others say why or aren't particularly impressed but I post them anyway because they speek to me. Photography or writing for that matter are very personal things.

Different defines who I am. Believe me, sometimes, I wish I could conform. But the rest of the time, I know that I've blazed trails before that others will follow. The big one'll happen.

ReplyDeleteI'm told I see the subtle nuances that most people don't see, both in objects and in people; and I also ask the questions most folks wouldn't think to ask. I guess that's what gets me run out of the herd, lol!

I really like this shot. Again, very graphic and the structure looks really interesting. As for different... I couldn't say how specifically, but I was raised not to go by what other people think and to listen to my own voice instead. That makes for all sorts of *interesting* situations, both good and bad.
