Splashed

This is what happens when a well-meaning wife and mother allows her husband to go to the mall with his camera. This is what happens when said husband decides to practice some high-speed imagery at the mall.

Thankfully, no security guard happened upon said husband while he was busy with his photographic play session. The results, alas, likely would not have been pretty.

Your turn: What's there to see at the mall?

  1. I see lots of people with a glaze over their eyes. It is kind of scary sometimes.

  2. Lots of people, of course!

I wrote a pseudo-psychological piece as a college freshman about how malls are where Americans go to escape, to be part of community without actually having to interact. Yes, it's true, I can even over-analyze a MALL! :-)

I am in awe of the picture, that you managed to snap it..and the overall look of it.

  7. Carmi, I am sure there is lots to see at the mall (when we have our "Carmi" eyes in) but I hate malls with a passion and I only go when I am forced!

  8. Rather than what I see, what I look for is the food court. :-D

By the way, an awesome picture.

  10. I remember way back when ...I was taking an anthropology course and I found an ethnography about shopping mall culture....

I think malls though have had their heyday, now it's superbig stores like walmart, winners, chapters to name just a few.

  11. Teenagers milling about. It's scary. Your day is coming. That day when your daughter says, "Dad, can I go to the mall with Mary and Sue?" Just say NO!

  12. Were you knee-deep? :)
I love the contrast and texture of water captured in motion.

  13. Malls kind of depress me. I like that picture, though, because it's son-mall like. They're mostly like Doom-esque mazes with bad artificial light and drones of people wandering aimlessly through chain stores, buying up 25% sweaters to wear the next time they go shopping at the mall.
