The pause that (universally) refreshes

Neon. American. Commercial.
Shanghai, China, May 2007 [Click to enlarge]

I've always loved pictures with strong colors and geometries, and I knew this fit the bill as soon as I saw the red glow reflecting off the street. It's difficult to explain how overwhelming a six-storey neon Coke sign is to the jet lagged eye, but I hope this zoomed-in view provides a taste.

Your turn: Is this making you thirsty?

  2. Wow! That's a big Coke! I wonder if it requires an equally big bottle opener - or perhaps it's a twist-off?

  6. In 1995, I promised I'd never drink another Coca-Cola product. And I haven't. The bad thing about that is that Minute Maid Orange Juice is so delicious.

    But that's a great picture.

    Here from Michele's.

  11. Thirsty, yes but how much Bourbon would be needed??
Imagine how this same image would look, if it was reflecting of a rain soaked road or similar...
I think it would look grand especially on a 2-3 second exposure (or more)!
    Here from Michele's tonight...

  12. Nope. (I think it's a pesticide byproduct.) I stick with my hot tea, thanks.

But the photo and the neon sign itself is great.

  13. Hey man,

Great pictures lately. I just read something you posted on someone else's blog about you being an HP guy - any chance you could make the switch over to a Mac? They are sweet machines, dude!
    Have a good one.

  17. Hi Carmi! Michele sent me :)

This isn't making me thristy, but it does set off all my energy-saver bells and whistles. Wonder if this thing goes into hibernate mode. Ever.
