A brief-yet-ongoing journal of all things Carmi. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll reach for your mouse to click back to Google. But you'll be intrigued. And you'll feel compelled to return following your next bowl of oatmeal. With brown sugar. And milk.

Oh wow--what a great photo. What is it?
ReplyDeleteHappy Wordless Wednesday!
Macro shots whenever possible, a steady hand, and always, always a "good eye".
ReplyDeleteWorks every time!
(I'm laughing maniacally right now, btw :) ).
Water, for me, has been a difficult medium to capture; you've done so well here, Carmi.
I had to click the larger view and put my nose right to the screen to believe it was water. Happy WW!
ReplyDeleteIt looks sort of futuristic.

A work of art! Happy WW!
ReplyDeleteWater? I thought it was maybe petrified wood.
ReplyDeleteSo, how do I achieve photographic texture - apparently not well :)
Wonderful photo!
I agree with Will. I did a double take myself. If it weren't for your title, my mind would still be wandering. Nice capture Carmi.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cool shot, Carmi! It's one that could be SO many different things - chocolate, water, rocks - to name a few. It's all a matter of perspective and imagination.
ReplyDeleteI'm still working on basics, like lighting and composition, getting my settings right. I haven't tried for specific textures. You've managed to do it quite well.
ReplyDeleteMy post this week was a very early attempt at those basics with my old 35m film camera from over 20 years ago. I'm still working on those basics today with digital.
Check it out if you get a chance at Just Some Thoughts
Wow. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteWow, great picture! Happy Wordless Wednesday!
ReplyDeletejust needs cream cheese frosting
ReplyDeleteIt's a great picture and someone said water, but all I could see were tortured souls writhing in agony, or maybe it was the top layer of brownies?? I'm not sure, but I think my pain pills have messed up my perception little bit. ;)
ReplyDeleteIf that is water ..that is very muddy !! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy WW !
I'll pretend it's an ocean of chocolate! Mmmmmm! Happy WW!
ReplyDeletei did the same inlarge the photo.. wow, you're good. I won't be able to do it.Great shot & well framed.
ReplyDeleteHappy WW.
Looks like a brownie, freshly sliced from the pan. Happy WW. (And yes, you could say that my WW this week has texture, too.)
ReplyDeleteBobbie
Nice photo! I am guessing water - if not it is a good imitation.

ReplyDeleteThis blog is getting to tech for me anymore.
I can't quite distinguish if this pic is dirt or water. Hmmmmmmmm. I like it.
Happy WW!
Beautiful & scary all at once.

looks like bark from a tree at first- very nicely done.
ReplyDeleteFantastic, as always.
ReplyDeleteI'm not an expert photographer - I point & shoot & hope for the best. Usually textures are accidentally interesting for me :)

Like Robin, I find photographing water to be a challenge. Great shot, Carmi!
ReplyDeleteHeh heh, I was thinking the surface of a pan of brownies based on the color--and that was putting my nose to the screen too!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pic. Never seen anything like it. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteWith the sepia tones, this looks like chocolate, which I would mind touching either!
ReplyDeleteI now have the use of a mini tabletop tripod, and that used with "macro mode" really helps capture texture on things.
Excellent texture.
ReplyDeleteAwesome Wordless Wednesday!
thanks for comment--love your shot...
ReplyDeleteHappy WW

ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog.

Hey Carmi, that is a great texture. I don't use textures yet, but I am going to learn how very soon!
ReplyDeleteIs everything ok with you today? You're not saying much, again.
ReplyDeleteI hope your dad's doing better.
Keeping you and your family in my prayers!
Talk to you soon.
I love this shot - it's so emotional!
ReplyDeleteAs for your question, I've had my digital camera for a few years now, but I'm still not past the play mode, so I tend to take the same shot with only one setting change (and not even a lens change!)
Just because I can.
I'm a fan of my tripod too.
Hi, thank you for your comment! Nice photo ;O) Happy WW :D
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cool photo
ReplyDeleteThat was such a cool shot.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Texture is not as easy to photograph as one would think, and you did a beautiful job of it!
ReplyDeleteHow do you maange to always be on number one spot on WW? ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy WW, that's a great photo!
Mine's on HipMamaBlog.com
I always tend to see faces in the water. Spooky, huh?
ReplyDeleteHow did you do that? I would love to take a class and learn about photography. Such an awesome shot.
ReplyDeleteAlmost has the texture of the top of my brownies...very cool.
ReplyDeleteHappy WW.
fantastic shot
ReplyDeleteI haven't a clue how to photograph textures, but I've always loved the lines and textures in your photos Carmi.
ReplyDeleteWow, I never would have known it was water if you hadn't named it as such. Looks like the bark of a tree!
ReplyDeleteStop by and see my WW when you have some time!
I'm going with brownie too; it's a fun texture to look at.
ReplyDelete(Do you use a tripod? It's a very steady shot.)
