A brief-yet-ongoing journal of all things Carmi. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll reach for your mouse to click back to Google. But you'll be intrigued. And you'll feel compelled to return following your next bowl of oatmeal. With brown sugar. And milk.

Wordless Wednesday - Beached
Not quite lost at sea
London, ON, October 2008 [Click to embiggen]
A beautiful afternoon at the playground with our kids. An unknown child's lost toy, abandoned in the middle of the sand. Ignored by everyone. Except me.
Strikes me as a little sad. You?
Your turn: This photo continues last week's Thematic Photographic theme, grounded. I hope you'll click here and join in before I post the new entry for next week's theme. That theme will be blur. Do you have a blurry shot hanging around? We'll be softening the edges and celebrating blurriness all week, starting Wednesday evening at precisely 7:00 p.m. ET. Until then, look back and share a grounded-themed picture.

A lost or forgotten toy is always sad. And the child who lost it is even sadder, probably.
ReplyDelete"Sad" is the first thing I thought when I saw that photo, Carmi. Then I read what you wrote and it only reinforced my impression. A simple yet rich image.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wordless Wednesday!

I don't know, I think the little boat looks kind of excited.
ReplyDeleteUnexpected liberty maybe.
Yes, very sad. :-( Why is that?
ReplyDeleteGreat composition! Happy WW! My WW is udderly silly - come check it out!
Yes, that is sad. :-(
ReplyDeleteSend the email when you start tomorrow's: I have a blurry shot in mind.
I love your shots of the little things that so many others would simply pass by.
ReplyDeleteYes, it strikes me as sad too. But let's keep that between us. We macho guy's aren't supposed to admit stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteis it a tiny toy or is it really coarse sand?
ReplyDeleteI was walking down the creek a while back and saw something bobbing where the water flowed over a berm.
It was a tiny paper boat -- I wish I'd posted the photo I took .. hmm I may yet.
Great composition! I'm sure thhe owner of that one was crying to find out they lost it..sad!
ReplyDeleteMine is posted HERE. Happy WW!~
I love the presentation...so artsy...so clever!
ReplyDeleteHey Carmi, thanks for checking out my WW post.
ReplyDeleteI love these minimalist shots. nothing but sand and a toy. We used to go to the beach frequently and never had to buy sand toys because the tourists would abandon them.
i think the child who lost that toy might be missing it now.
ReplyDeletehappy wednesday. hope you can visit my WW!

I might have a blurry photo somewhere, though I usually delete them because it's not what I was going for. I find one, I will post on that ww theme. thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeletehappy ww

ReplyDeleteYou can see mine HERE

Sad? I guess it depends on the larger context. Lost, or just resting? What's happening outside the frame?
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm anxious for the next Thematic... I have a few ideas already. Blur is usually somethign I try to avoid, but properly implemented... ohyeah...
I love looking at the world through your eyes!
ReplyDeleteMine's up too. Stink Bug...?!
hey carmi,
ReplyDeletei have been busy with holidays, but here's my blur.

You can see footprints all around it -- poor toy, it is sad. Did you rescue it?
ReplyDeleteYour image reminds me o f a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt ........
ReplyDelete"There is nothing to regret - either for those who go or for those who are left behind”
I agree with Kenju...I always find it sad when I see something that was once loved and played with discarded.
ReplyDeleteThis toy is another unidentifiable object. Like my yellow behomouth.
ReplyDeleteI have a bunch of blurry objects.
I wonder, ... :-)
Happy WW, thank you for peeking at my RR machine and for your nice comment.
Nobody I know knows what that thing is.
..
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks lost toys are sad.
ReplyDeleteHere's my blur photos. I had a wonderful time with this theme. Thank-you greatly.
