Magical mystery lines

What the hell is this?
London, ON, June 2009 [Click to embiggen]

I often taken pictures not because there's a story waiting to be told or a lesson needing to be learned. Sometimes, it's enough to look at something that looks just neat enough that you want to share it. It really can be as simple as that.

Your turn: So what is this thing? I'm hoping you'll have some suggestions: The wilder, the better. And while we're on the topic of lines, don't forget to pop into our launch entry for this week's Thematic Photographic theme (lines, apparently. Who knew?) It's the most fun you can have with your blogging clothes off.

  1. I have absolutly no idea, it look like wood to me, but probably it is some kind of building?

  2. It looks like some kind of mat to lay on that a massuse would use. But it looks like something more that would be used in a Japanese Tea Room

  3. Enter Monsieur Sherlock!
    It's steps!
    What say thou, Carmi?
How cool is my guess? ;)

  5. looks like something out of lumber.

the grain is consistent across the rows, so it can't be the end view of semi-evenly spaced 2x4's

your 'embiggen' doesn't embiggen enough. (grrr. need more detail.)

  6. How very true that it only has to look neat to be photo worthy. Even the most ordinary things can be spellbinding with the right angle, lighting, composition...

If I had to guess, it looks sort of like the steps of an escalator. But I can't quite work out the angle you'd have to shoot it from to get the stagger to the left of the frame.

Mine latest isn't so magical or mysterious... but I guess you could call it a tour.

  7. It's definitely wood, but I have no idea what the black parts are - unless they are rubber treads on stairs.

  8. It's Moshe Safdie's latest structure...."Non-Habitat." The black square holes are doorways leading to endless tunnels and mazes.....once you go in, you never get out the same.

    Bon!

  9. I'm looking at a bookcase full of business files that looks very much like your photo

  10. It's a porch cover thingy. (like what you build over a wooden deck or back porch) I love this photo. I took one nearly just like it of my neighbor's porch cover thingy.

    The repetitive lines are soothing.

Now if I could only solve my word-finding problem. ;-)

  13. I think it looks like the expanded view of a stretchy watch band. Are you going to TELL us what it is?

  14. Actually... after I bigged it, I now know it is NOT a watch band... I'm thinking now some sort of oriental placemat or something like that...
