Early morning on Market Street

Down low in Frisco
San Francisco, July 2008

About this photo: Thematic Photographic explores travel-themed scenes all week long. If you have something from your own travels, please share it here.
The scene: It's early on a grey, damp, miserable morning, and I really should be back at my hotel getting ready to fly back home. Instead, I'm zipping through the streets, power-shooting whatever I see because, well, I don't want to return home without a tangible memory of my all-too-brief time here.

I'm manic like that.

Your turn: This streetscape seems to be telling so many stories. I hope you'll pick one and share it in a comment.

  1. Like the atmospheric photo - you were probably laying in prostrate position to get this capture!

  2. Love the perspective of this shot....from the damp shiny bricks to the scene at the end.

I love the SF bay area. My little girl was born there. Little shots like these always bring a smile to my face.

I just may have to find a travel shot!

  3. I love this angle. Just love it. Love it all the more when I imagine what you had to do to get it.

I went for a different angle myself on this one.

Oh, and your homey Brian Rodney is back with the Big Club and has an assist tonight against the Isles. And if Chuck Kaiton is to be believed, he actually took a faceoff. (I figure Chuck must've been mistaken because you'd have to go through a lot of guys before you'd have a D-man taking a draw.)

Unfortunately it wasn't enough and the Isles took a 4-3 win in OT. But it's a point... which is more than we've been getting.

  4. San Fran is on my list of places to visit. I bet it's on Net Chick's list too.

  5. I really like the wet pavement low angle atmosphere. It looks like an early morning, slightly cool and a sort of drizzle on the face that you can't properly see.

  6. it's so very very clean....
    that i'm left wondering about
what was removed during the night, how much debris,
who it was who cleans this area
and how much they're paid for it
    and what they're doing now

  7. Bricks are perfect. I love photographing them. I find them very interesting, and really like the colors. Great choice.

  11. I really enjoy this shot. It makes me think of the very few times I've been able to walk downtown by myself and just enjoy the scenery, no where to be in a hurry.
