Spain wins World Cup...

Whoever you rooted for, I hope we all appreciate the just-completed uber-cool moment of global sporting connectedness. Sometimes, sports transcends what goes on on the field.

Something to remember as the planet gets back to its usual mean-spirited self tomorrow morning.

Your turn: Got any final thoughts on the World Cup?

And England was just plain embarrassing.....

My football mad friend has just told me that next it's the qualifiers for the 2012 World Cup.. :-(

  3. Don't understand the timing or fouls or any of it. So am glad it and the horn blowing is over.

  4. I love the world cup! It amazes me how many people follow it. You can show up at a sports bar and there's such a fellowship there. Soccer fans are crazy and, for the most part, a pretty great bunch.

  5. The horns aside, I love what it does for our family togetherness (any big sport championship, really). I love how we get together and watch and cheer on our team. Some times it's apposing teams but we're cheering them on together.

    I love our family!

  6. Fifa really let itself down on the world stage by turning it's back on technology (video replays for refs...).
Horns drowned out all live enthusiasm.
But the players and teams gave us some memorable moments so I'm looking forward to 2014 in Brazil.

  7. I thought this was the worst World Cup ever! Filled with really bad calls. I've not seen so many bad calls in all my 34 years! Utterly disappointed. I hope that FIFA and UEFA take note, and change the rules a bit on bad referee calls.

  8. Imagine the outcome had there been instant replay. Forget about the winning goal in yesterday's match. Likely would have been two different teams in the final.

  9. I'm not a sports fan at all, but couldn't help getting a little swept up in the excitement here, and the fact that New Zealand were the only unbeaten team in the competition!
