Turning colder. Literally.

Airflow device
Richmond Hill, ON, April 2010

Please accept my apologies for the very literal interpretation of this week's "turning colder" theme (wander this way to share your own...it's the most fun you can have with your lens cap on.) I just couldn't resist sharing this photo here when I cruised past it in my archives, and I hope it brings a smile to your face as it did mine.

Your turn: Photography often forces us to contort ourselves into odd positions to get the shot. This time out, I was flat on my back on the ground as my mother watched from across the room with the oddest look on her face. You'd think she'd know me by now, eh? Anyway, what's the weirdest position/place you've folded yourself into to compose a picture?

  1. LOL, how about laying on my stomach trying to get a shot from a view that a worm would have? I've also stood on the edge of a lounge chair trying to get the perfect shot of the moon and almost loosing my balance.

  3. I'm not much of a photographer myself, but when I had my wedding photos taken we had the photographer up a tree hanging off branches trying to get that perfect shot!

  4. In the grass on elbows and knees right next to the road trying to get the perfect macro shot of some tiny little flower ... with my friend up on the sidewalk making perverted comments about my butt sticking up in the air flashing traffic ;)

  6. Carmi, Thanks for stopping by A Camp Host Housewife's Meanderings and leaving a comment. Much appreciated! Your in-laws old trailer sounds wonderful. I bet some great photos could have/could be taken there.

  7. It's the shots close to the edge of high cliffs, or loose ground along the rivers edge, and too many twisting on the ground clicking over and over for just the perfect shot of a bee in a flower, or trying to recreate that perfect pose after reaching for my camera. But the most silly ones, are when you pretend not to take a picture for one reason or another.

  8. I've climbed up trees, ladders, fences and roofs, stood on tables and chairs, crawled around in dirt and mud ... you name it, I've probably done it. My friends and family used to get embarrassed about it but now they just shake their heads and wonder what the hell I'm trying to shoot now.

  10. A loooong time ago, I was looking for a nice spot to burn one, and happened down to the city marina. There was a little white and orange sailboat not over thirty feet, and it was sitting right under a dock light. The backround pitchblack, and the little boat all creamy white and orange glowing in the night. ME=DRUNK, camera=READY. the obstacle was the eight foot chain link gate that kept me from my shot. Picture drunk woman, with smoke giggles, and one arm looped around the fence post, and me and camera hanging out over the water. Plus I had to slow the camera speed so much that I had to hold my breath and linger. The shot was AWESOME!!!
