Thematic Photographic 129 - Wet

Dewy
Delray Beach, FL, January 2010

I dig water droplets. Not sure why, but I do. I think it's a lovely way to launch our first new Thematic Photographic theme of the year, wet.

Why wet? Because water is, literally, life. It's elemental. It's renewal. It's how I think we all want to start the new year, and I hope you'll come along for the ride with us.

What's Thematic Photographic? It's our weekly photo sharing and learning activity, and it's simple: We post a new theme on Thursday. Over on your blog, you post a picture that interprets the theme, then return here to leave a comment. Repeat as often as you wish, and feel free to pull in a friend, too...the more the merrier. That's it! Complete details are here.

Your turn: Appreciating certain subjects, yet you can't explain why. Please discuss.

  5. Wet. A word one doesn't connect with the desert too often, but ironically we have quite a few drownings here during the spring and summer. Half an inch of rain above the slot canyons of southern Utah can cause flash flooding which catch a few back country campers off guard every year. Conversely, when camping and hiking you need to be painfully aware of the lack of wet here, and bring a lot of your own.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's take on this theme, and will post mine as soon as I figure out where I'll go with it.

  7. I had to go with a summery pic, as everything around my place is too frozen to qualify as "wet" right now.

  8. I have a fascination for droplets too. Amazing the reflection we can see in something so small.

  9. To answer your question about appreciating certain subjects happens when something pulls me completely in, to solve or uncover the mystery of it, but mostly to simply enjoy it...something I can't resist, for fear of not experiencing it! It's catchy like a yawn you see it and you're pulled in to yawn back. Great deep question that will linger long.

  11. I too am fascinated by all the features and moods and seasons of water! I live by water! And an expanse of water gives me a greater opportunity to enjoy all the faces of the sky as well!

  14. I think that we become fascinated with the common things in our lives when we take the time to stop, observe, and appreciate.

Here are my shots of wet-

  15. Some creatures, as well as people... actually look wet when they are. Some don't... so you have to catch them in the act of getting.. or at least trying to get wet. Mine is here.
