A brief-yet-ongoing journal of all things Carmi. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll reach for your mouse to click back to Google. But you'll be intrigued. And you'll feel compelled to return following your next bowl of oatmeal. With brown sugar. And milk.

Thematic Photographic 132 - Curves
Waiting for a cruise
London, ON, November 2010
I've always had a thing for the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, especially in its convertible form. It was - and still is, for those lucky enough to own one - a lovingly designed car that happened to be relatively affordable. Time has been good to the Karmann, and it ranks, to me anyway, as a timeless example of thoughtful, functional engineering.
I think this well maintained example of the breed is a great way to launch our new Thematic Photographic theme, curves. I hope you're game for some curvy fun with your lens over the next week.
Your turn: The deal is fairly simple. Just take a picture with a curve in it and post it to your blog. Leave a comment here, and visit other participants to spread the joy. Feel free to share already-posted or archival work, too. Don't be afraid to stretch the bounds when deciding how to interpret the theme - there are no rights and wrongs here. And have fun, because that's why we do this. Click here for more background on how Thematic works.

Carmi - I have to agree with you, the VW Karmann Ghia is one adorable little car. I've liked them ever since I was knee-high to a tadpole.
ReplyDeletenice car and color.
ReplyDeletehm, curves eh? to line that up with my 365 self-portrait could take either boldness or tact and taste on my part.
Curves and Volkswagons, eh? No problem.
ReplyDeleteHow about this picture?

BTW I like the reflection of another car in the quarter panel! Very cool, didn't notice it right away! Wow!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a teenager, I used to dream of owning just such a car. I wanted a Karmann Ghia or an MGB. I settled for a Pinto. Funny right?
ReplyDeleteA lovely variety of curves in this image! Great perspective!

That is a great shot of such a classic. Karmann did a fantastic job of designing a handsome coupe while utilizing some of the styling cues from it's parent car, the oh so famous beetle. This is my contribution to curves this week, it seems it holds a similar theme.

Love these curves. Classic cars never go out of style. I think there is truth in the old expression, "They just don't make 'em like they used to."
ReplyDeleteFound "curves" to be a difficult one. Finally came up with something.
Curves
This car has lovely curves. Here are my curves.
ReplyDeleteReally great posts on this thing we call curves! So I'm offering another turn in curves too!
ReplyDeletehttp://twincitiesblather.blogspot.com/2011/01/thematic-photographic-132-curves.html
Hi, Carmi! It's been way too long since I posted an entry in the Thematic Photographic and I have certainly missed it. But here I am, under a new blog name and with some of my favorite curves that you can see here.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your family are doing well!
Barb Wibel
A couple more curves...
ReplyDeleteI read your most recent post after I wrote mine... both thinking about the curves of life. No one really loves the curves in life that much.
ReplyDeleteCurves is almost at an end so heres my last curvy post!
ReplyDeletehttp://twincitiesblather.blogspot.com/2011/02/thematic-photographic-132-curves.html
Here is my interpretation of it. My friend Leia's incredible very pregnant belly photographed last year.
ReplyDelete*For those looking at work, these images while tasteful, are nudes. So don't feel obliged to look. And it's OK Carmi if you don't want to post this. :)
Ah Mike, you always make me smile. I'm guessing the puritans stopped reading me when I decided to write about mixed dancing. We're good :)
ReplyDeleteAll: Mike's work is, in a word, incredible. If you haven't seen his photography, follow the link, then stick around for more. He's the real photographic deal.
Thank Carmi :)
