A brief-yet-ongoing journal of all things Carmi. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll reach for your mouse to click back to Google. But you'll be intrigued. And you'll feel compelled to return following your next bowl of oatmeal. With brown sugar. And milk.

Thematic Photographic 138 - Transition
In the western sky
Laval, QC, August 2010
Click photo to embiggen, and here for more info on Thematic
Many thanks to Titanium* for suggesting this week's theme, transition. I'm not entirely sure I have what it takes to do her theme justice, but I'll certainly do my best to do just that this week. I hope you'll come along for the transitional ride.
Mine begins with one of my favorite moments of any day, when the sun slips below the horizon. It's more than just an orbital dance; it's an invitation to take stock, to reflect, and to look forward to the next gift of a day.
In the end, they're all gifts, aren't they?
Your turn: Please post a transition-themed photo to your blog - or find something you may have already posted - and leave a comment here letting folks know where to find it. Repeat as often as you wish, and feel free to pull in unsuspecting friends, too. Visit other participants to spread the photographic joy. And click here if you want more background on how Thematic, our weekly photo-sharing extravaganza, works. Have fun!
* If you haven't visited her blog, you're missing an inspirational treat. She lives in Alaska, climbs mountains, and paints pictures with her camera and pen that never fail to make my jaw drop.

Oh man, and I get to be the first one, yea! Here is my first set of pictures with the "transition" theme.
ReplyDeleteTransitions. Tough one. I thought that this was sort of appropo. I posted a photo and a blog post at the end of the year talking about transitions and how we don't seem to care for what was and how we always seem to rush indiscriminately replace it with what will be.
ReplyDelete.
ReplyDeleteNot an easy word this week... BUT this is my choice.

Transitions - how about a first baby?
ReplyDeleteMy transition-themed post is here - celebrating our city (as it was before February 22nd)
ReplyDeleteWell, this is MUCH more positive than last week! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI don't have anything stunning to share, but here's a bit of humor with this theme:

here are mine
ReplyDeleteI went a little inward because this is a very transitional time of year for me.
Morning transition at

The transition I'm obsessed with right now is the transition between a gloomy winter and the new spring season...my photo is right here
ReplyDelete...and if that doesn't work you can find it here: www.everydayjuju.blogspot.com
Better late than never... Here is my idea of transition.

The rich detail in this cloud bank is superb. The colors are so distinct and rich- this photo of yours would make a beautiful painting, Carmi.
ReplyDeleteI spent the weekend solo winter camping under the Super Moon. Imagine my surprise when I stopped by to visit this morning and found that this week's theme was 'Transition'!
I shared my take on the theme, here.
Hmmmm, all sorts of options for this one. I finally decided on this. To me, this photo represents the transition from Winter to Spring.
ReplyDeleteWinter to spring is a popular idea. Yeah, I'm going with it anyway.
ReplyDeleteExquisite photo Carmi! ...and thanks Titanium for such an ingenious (hair pulling) fun time! Finally after searching through so many photos I found a transition not already posted! So here it is

ReplyDelete(Ooops. Try again)
ReplyDeleteSuch a fabulous photo, Carmi!
Here are some personal, family transitions for this theme.
I've grown to look forward to these themes, checking out all the pictures you all have and seeing what you come up with. Just got done visiting 16 of your sites, all were more than worth the time. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHere is another "transition" post of mine.
Your seagulls reminded me of one I had of that split second before landing as well as a mallard in takeoff. Both were just lucky shots. The gulls in air are so graceful and yet they are so annoying on land.
ReplyDeleteOops... I forgot my link....... That Moment Before Touchdown
ReplyDeleteFunny question. Is our weatherman a Thematic Photographic fan or was it by happenstance that he said this last night? "Once the rain transitions into snow tonight, how much snow can we expect?" Seriously funny how our theme of the week commands so much of our attention!
