On bridges

"The hardest thing in life to learn is which bridge to cross and which to burn."
David Russell
This one makes sense to me today. I wish I knew why.

  1. I know my middle one burns bridges w/people she knows she will never see again..such as some of her h.s. friends... she still is close w/5 girls that she went thru grade school, j.s. and h.s. I burn bridges w/those that have hurt me deeply... My mom has hurt me deeply but her being my mom, that is one bridge I will not burn.. The last relationship I had, I refuse to communicate w/that person who tried to communicate in every fashion u can imagine... I was betrayed and that was the deal breaker... I burn bridges w/those that are just too weird in their actions w/me.. I don't have relationships w/those that want to control me... I tend to shrink away and not communicate.. As far as your post, its obvious something has really put you in this funk... to that my friend, I feel for you..

  2. Perhaps it is all the news about the freeway closure in LA.... and the massive bridge project they are trying to do in 53 hours. Somehow that doesn't sound like it would make for a very safe re-build of the bridge... if done in only 53 hours.

  3. I have pondered this too for so many reasons. Our culture has shifted dramatically in the U.S. away from what I remembered. In a changing world, it is only human to step back and ponder the direction of so many, and what role we have in plotting our own unique paths that will bring meaning to our lives in the most positive way. I see nothing wrong in pondering this, Carmi. I would be worried if no one did!

  4. It is advisable not to burn the bridge before you cross it.
