A brief-yet-ongoing journal of all things Carmi. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll reach for your mouse to click back to Google. But you'll be intrigued. And you'll feel compelled to return following your next bowl of oatmeal. With brown sugar. And milk.

On owning our fate
"Life is like a game of cards. The hand that is dealt you represents determinism; the way you play it is free will." Jawaharal Nehru
Your turn: I've heard all too often that life isn't fair. But is it, really?
I think it all depends on what one considers as 'fair'... just as in beauty, ugliness, etc... What I consider a tragedy may not be to you... Depends on what one has experienced in life... doesn't it? I remember when my husband was killed, a lot of people were miffed or confused because I did not act like the 'widow' the crying, one... People expected me to break down in public or fall apart at hearing anyone speak about my husband... sure, I broke down, but I did it in the comfort of my home... I journaled a lot so that helped..
Yes I think it is fair in spite of our trials there are always hidden blessings. one of my favorite qoutes is "most people compain that roses have thorns, I am grateful that thorns have roses." I don't know who the author is but i have it printed on a photo of my rose bush and hung on my wall to remind me of all the good that has come from my trials. Johnina :D

Life isn't 'always' fair. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.
ReplyDeleteWe tend to notice the unfair part more.
