On owning our fate

"Life is like a game of cards. The hand that is dealt you represents determinism; the way you play it is free will."
Jawaharal Nehru

Your turn: I've heard all too often that life isn't fair. But is it, really?

  1. I think it all depends on what one considers as 'fair'... just as in beauty, ugliness, etc... What I consider a tragedy may not be to you... Depends on what one has experienced in life... doesn't it? I remember when my husband was killed, a lot of people were miffed or confused because I did not act like the 'widow' the crying, one... People expected me to break down in public or fall apart at hearing anyone speak about my husband... sure, I broke down, but I did it in the comfort of my home... I journaled a lot so that helped..

  3. Life isn't 'always' fair. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.
We tend to notice the unfair part more.

  4. Yes I think it is fair in spite of our trials there are always hidden blessings. one of my favorite qoutes is "most people compain that roses have thorns, I am grateful that thorns have roses." I don't know who the author is but i have it printed on a photo of my rose bush and hung on my wall to remind me of all the good that has come from my trials.
