Thematic Photographic 158 - Made of glass

Coke of a different color
Toronto, ON, May 2011

On the surface, this week's Thematic theme is somewhat straightforward: If it's made of glass, we want to see it. The twist lies in the fact that glass is generally transparent or translucent, and sometimes plays games with exposure and composition. Despite the challenges - or likely because of them - glass has become one of my favorite subjects to shoot, and I hope you enjoy the experience for the coming week, too.

Your turn: Take a picture of something glassy or find one you've already posted online. Leave a comment here letting folks know where to find it. Visit other participants to share the joy. Repeat. And don't be afraid to spread the word. Thematic Photographic is our non-competitive weekly exploration of all things photographic. For more background, please click here.

  2. A trip to the Seattle Glassblowing Studio this summer offered a feast of color and bounty of light-play. I’ve got a few shots over here in a palette of colors.

  9. I'm so glad I'm back playing TP! I've been in need of looking at things in new light, and you always provide that inspiration. My photos show glass in a way that we depend on, but other little critters couldn't care less.... here it is.

  10. This is such a great theme and a challenging one- glass is indeed hard to photograph- after the last time you offered this theme I went to an antique store and took photos of many wonderful glass object which has yet to make it to my blog. I guess I need to get with it and get them posted
However since I have been forced into a drastic change in diet I have been publishing recipies that I have tried and taking pictures as I make new recipies and I believe that serving myself on prettier dishes has helped make this morwe enjoyable I do have one glass picture I can share taken by me and put on my cookbook software
