On the meaning of chess

After the game, the king and the pawn go into the same box.
Italian Proverb
I'm not entirely sure why these words speak to me today, but they do. I'll leave it for another day - or, for you - to figure out their meaning.

  1. I think it means regardless of who, what we are we are all basically the same.. We all desire, achieve, fail... We are all human...We differ in how we achieve, fail... basically we are all the same.

  3. I think it has much the same meaning as Emerson, Lake & Palmer's song "Lucky Man";
    .
    "A bullet had found him,
    His blood ran as he cried,
    No money could save him,
    So he laid down and died."
    .
    It doesn't matter who you are, how rich you think you are, how important you think you are or how superior you think you are, death is the final equalizer and no one can avoid it.
