Thanks and Godspeed, Mr. Rooney

Andy Rooney died last night, barely a month after he retired from his weekly 60 Minutes essays. I grew up on his curmudgeonly form of narrative, observational journalism, and often wondered what it would be like to sit in front of a camera and share what I knew and felt with an audience.

Journalists never forget those who inspired them. As I've developed my own voice over the years, his own voice has echoed in my head, almost as a challenge to focus on the common sense that typically eludes so many of us.

I miss his voice already.

Your turn: Thoughts?

And I missed him the day he retired.
People like Andy don't happen very often.
    A true gem.
