Whitney Houston Dead at 48
I know this seems odd, as I typically don't write about anything from the Entertainment Tonight, TMZ or E! side of the planet. Celebrity worship seems to be such a phenomenal waste of time, energy and resources. Yet, when an incredible talent dies way too young, Mary Hart notwithstanding I think it merits pausing and reflecting. What an unbelievable waste of a life.

ReplyDeleteI'm alternately sad, and angry. She got me through some emotional times in relationships, and I have a very soft spot for the memories her songs bring back. So I'm heartbroken. But I'm angry because I believe Bobby Brown was directly responsible for her downfall, and though we're all architects of our own destiny, she was treated abysmally by a man who'd vowed to love her. She reacted in the way too many people do, and it became her death warrant.
ReplyDeleteI just hope other victims of abuse can find lessons in her story, and leave before it gets to the point where they lose their own identity and will to live.
I'm also astounded at how many people thought the news was a hoax; a sure sign social media has caused so many to become more cynical and less trusting of news media.
Sad to know she had so much going for her and threw it away for an addiction.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me look around at the choices we all make when things aren't going well in our lives. How do each of us cope? Do we cope via healthy choices and support from loved ones, or do we try to go it alone?
drugs and fame seem to be accepted in the entertainment industry. How come they dont screen people for drug like they do for a regular job. too many icons have been lost and nobody speaks out.....Its so so sad. what a loss. Rest in Peace.
