Timeout...

It's been a zany week filled with all sorts of neat little twists and turns. I'm a little sleep deprived, so in lieu of a snappily written new blog entry, you're stuck with this lame piece of tripe from my BlackBerry (yes, I still use mine, and yes, I still really like it, and no, that doesn't make me a tech-prude, but anyway...)

In the meantime, I have a favor to ask of you all: Please leave a comment outlining one nice thing you've done for others over the last day. (Yes, there's a purpose to this. All will be explained. Eventually.)

  1. I endured 7th grade carnival day outside (in spite of my migraine) so the other teacher with bad knees wouldn't have to stand in the heat.

One nice thing done FOR me was that the type teacher had her students type thank you notes to teachers. She forwarded one beautifully-written one to me. With parents continually bashing teachers because the media encourages them to do so, it was really nice to get one piece of concrete evidence that SOMEONE thought I'd done my job well this year.

  2. In no particular order: I donated funds to purchase footwear for kids in an orphanage in Russia (for real). Gave my sister words of comfort to smoothen an otherwise stressful situation. Lavished a friend with true, genuine and earnestly deserved compliments. Laughed heartily with my daughter, turned my cell & laptop off and spent an hour enjoying her company (not sure if that last part qualifies as "doing something nice" but the resulting euphoric elation is identical!) All this in one day... wonder what wonders tomorrow may bring...

  4. Hmm... Nice and short post that triggers me to leave a comment. What I did for others few days back was... hmmm.. Sadly, I couldn't think of any...;P
But I shall start to do good deeds today, let's make the world a better place!
    Have a nice day!

  5. I have been helping organize a booth to show little kids how to plant seeds this weekend. It isn't one on one help of doing something for someone, but promotes the love of gardening since many children do not know where their food comes from.

  6. I'll be doing something nice later today... my sister is on very hard times, since losing her Blockbuster job. Being on EI she doesn't make enough to feed a family of 7. Her youngest needs sneakers, and being her sister, I am taking them to get those shoes after school. I wouldn't hesitate to do anything for anyone if I have the means.
There is a mentally ill woman who lives a few doors down. I take her food and clothes all the time, even though she steals my mail. I even buy her a coffee here and there....
Hope this is the kind of nice things you seek.

  7. I made your coffee before I left for work, even though I was running late! I also went to pick up the kids from school so they wouldn't have to walk in the rain.

I hope you had a nice day! Luv you! Xoxo

  8. I think alot of people are really stressed right now; I hope you that good care of yourself.
My good deed has been going on for the last week. I've been visiting my daughter who had to file a restraining order on her ex so I've been helping her with the kids, helping organize her home, doing some spring cleaning and generally talking and talking while she vents and processes all that is happening to her.
This has been sad for her, but the silver lining is that I have gotten to know her and my grandkids on a whole new level.
