Steve Jobs - a year

Hard to believe it's been a year since Steve Jobs passed away. Apple is running a tribute to him on its homepage. CEO Tim Cook posted this note, as well.

I never met the man, yet the things he did were strongly influential on my life. My first exposure to an Apple II Plus at the back of a high school computer lab set me on a course that eventually led me here. I wonder if a different machine from a different man or a different company would have had the same effect. We'll never know, of course, but the connection alone is enough to convince me that this business is about far more than machines, anyway.

Onward...

  2. My first exposure to an Apple II Plus...

My first "real job" (aka one with health insurance) was programming the Apple II Plus.

In fact, I still have an Apple II gs (graphics and sound) in the closet...I was going to set it up and take pics for Thematic 213 (Retro), but never quite got around to it.

  3. I agree w/Karen! Can't believe its a year.. Hopefully, everyone appreciates the technology as well as takes to heart the choice Jobs made with his health..Sometimes the holistic way just isn't the way..

  4. Very similar story here. My first computer experience in school was an Apple IIe, and it also was my first computer. Many hours I spent typing in programs from the back of magazines, and writing my own. Well, I guess I have to count the very brief exposure I had to TRS-80 computers and their audio cassette tape drives. I prefer not to, though.

  5. Its sad that such an influential individual person has gone, and to think, its only been a year - it doesn't feel that way, and yet I wonder, has Apple gone in the same direction had he not be gone?

AND, in this mornings news, an actor from the "Star Trek - The Next Generation" has come out claiming SJ stole the idea of the iPad from the Star Trek franchise, as they had the 'Padd' (amongst other things)!

Coincidence for today? I think not... http://www.tmz.com/2012/10/04/star-trek-brent-spiner-ipad/
