There's a burger place near the house - Five Guys - that the kids absolutely love. The menu is ever so slightly removed from fast food, and there's a stack of free grab-your-own peanuts as soon as you walk in the door.

It isn't healthy, and it isn't kosher. But as an occasional treat that makes my family smile and gives us an excuse to hang around the kitchen table a little longer, I'm in.

Whenever I drop by to pick up an order, I feel a compulsion to take advantage of the free peanuts. I think it's the texture, or the amusement of shooting artsy pictures while other customers look on with furrowed brows. Being able to ripple some happiness out into the universe in this way is indescribably fun.
