A facade holds onto its secrets

This is exactly what it looks like: An old, run-down industrial building on an old, run-down industrial street on the edge of London's old, run-down, no-longer industrial downtown core.

What isn't apparent in the photo is the story behind this building. When it was built. By whom. Who worked here. What they did.

I don't know this building's story, its context, its role in the evolution of the gritty neighborhood around it. And for once in my life, I don't feel the need to figure it out.

Because sometimes it's enough to stand on a sidewalk and wonder about the unknown. Because not every question needs an answer. Because a little mystery keeps us coming back for more.

I suspect this won't be my last time shooting in this often-forgotten corner of the city.
