Reflecting by the water...

Some of our most profound memories are also our most fleeting.

Like the leaves you see here, destined to be swept from the trees within days, doomed to be heaps of soggy brown on the forest floor.

Or the water that's reflecting this scene, already flowing out of frame. Or the wind-whipped ripples that change by the second, only to disappear entirely as the winds die down.

Or the entire scene that fades to black as the sun slips beneath the horizon.

It'll look different when light returns in the morning. And it'll never again look as it does in this moment.

All the more reason to stand by the water and drink it in.

All the more reason to appreciate the small joys of life.

Because they are, in the end, not small at all.
