Reflecting on privilege from way up high

Too many to count

Sometimes you have to get above it all to appreciate everything you have.

There's a lot going on in this densely-built rectangle of downtown Toronto, but as I stare down and absorb the detail, two buildings stand out: the CBC's Canadian Broadcast Centre at the bottom of the frame, and Bell Media Studios toward the top.

At various times in my life, I've been privileged to have worked out of both of these remarkable facilities, doing live radio and television work that never failed to generate a pinch-me-I'm-dreaming moment or two.

But I'm just one person, and the neighborhood below is easily packed with countless other people building their own lives, telling their own stories, making their own memories. I can only imagine what they'd have to say if they stood right here and took in the same scene.

May we all have such opportunity.
