Backlit and tall London, ON October 2020 This photo originally shared on Instagram |
You know where this is going: I was so engrossed in the scene playing out in the viewfinder that I neglected to watch my step - and ended up falling down the slope.
Thankfully the camera was OK, but I'm pretty sure I bruised a rib in the process. But the photos were decent, and based on that experience I added bulrushes and tall grasses to an ever-lengthening list of things I like to shoot.
Years later, I found myself in the woods on the other side of town, with a new Nikon in my hot little hands. This time I didn't fall like an idiot, and the tall grasses were even lovelier than I had remembered.
Learning from earlier mistakes. Not a bad way to up my photo game. Or to stay out of the ditch. Or to live.
