Tracking a Talon

Behold the T-38 Talon, the primary (for now) jet trainer for the U.S. Air Force.

It's the plane that teaches pilots how to fly supersonic jets, and it's also how NASA astronauts get around when they don't want to fly commercial with the rest of us proles.

I've loved this plane since I was a kid, primarily because its design is so insanely clean, and it telegraphs perfectly what it is. It first flew in 1959, yet for some reason it still looks like the future.

I captured this one during its demo at last year's airshow, and while I don't think it'll be back on this year's manifest, I hope the future-fighter-pilots who fly them stay safe wherever they may be.
