Flying Fortress. Flying History.

This Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress is one of the last examples still in the sky.

12,731 of them were built. 4,735 never came home.

What we owe to the kids who willfully took off in them, not knowing if they’d ever come home, is incalculable.

What we owe everyone who fought the forces of tyranny and darkness - in the air, on the ground, at sea, anywhere - is similarly not quantifiable.

If only we honored their memory by respecting their service more than we do. If only we appreciated just how much they sacrificed so that we wouldn’t have to.
