Hundreds of people on two separate aircraft fly at near-supersonic speeds toward faraway destinations, tracing near-perfect lines across the equally perfect blue sky.

Thanks to fate, weather, and an unseen algorithm buried deep in scheduling software, their paths momentarily cross.
