As the only Canadian team in Major League Baseball (Montreal Expos forever!) the sorry end to a challenging season was felt across the country.
We got to see them play in Toronto last month, and as luck would have it that day, the good guys won.
And as the post-season speculation around who’s to blame and who returns (or doesn’t) next year hits a new gear, I’m reminded of the simple lesson I learned from my own inglorious little league experiences on a decidedly rattier-looking diamond: there will be more games.
And as much as fans seemingly live and die by whether or not they win a game or a series or a championship, I’d rather not follow the crowd.
Because win or lose, it’s a beautiful game. And simply being there to witness it is a privilege in its own right.
