It’s easy to understand why, because she’s skimming at some ungodly speed mere feet above the beach, the winds shifting unpredictably, trying to knock her off line as she pulls Gs in search of her next meal.
She’s supernaturally focused on the only things that matter in this moment: survival, staying in the air, keeping predators at bay, hunting down enough energy to live and fight another day.
I can hear the swish of the disturbed air as her wings invisibly turn it into lift, her cries fading as she sweeps past and leaves me behind.
While many might see her as a mere scavenger of the sky, I’d rather see her in a different light. And maybe even learn a thing of two from her singular sense of determination.
