When sunsets arrive earlier

Folks who live in the Northern Hemisphere often lament this time of year because the days are getting shorter and cooler.

But I’d rather imagine there’s a bright side to every darkness, namely the fact that we don’t have to wait as long before the setting sun puts on its inevitable show.

And on this particular evening, the show was a particularly memorable one. It felt like an impressionist’s art show. Or a child dragging random colours across the page.

Whatever this smudged mess was, it arrived earlier, which gave me more time to stand in awe and drink it in.

Tonights’s sunset will be earlier still. We should go.
