Wingover
St. Thomas, ON, June 2007 [Click to embiggen]This remains one of my most memorable moments from our grand adventure at the St. Thomas Air Show last summer (see
here,
here,
here,
here and
here for earlier entries.) As I lay on the ground and shot straight up, all I could think of was what must have been going through this guy's head as he spun crazily toward the planet.
Of course, there was nothing crazy about it. The
SkyHawks are the parachute demonstration team of the Canadian Armed Forces. They're probably as well trained in falling from the sky as anyone on - or off - the planet. It was an incredible sight to see.
Your turn: What makes someone "the best"?

I think all that would be going through my head would be thoughts of the contents of my stomach.
It's a beautiful picture, though!
Wow! What a fantastic photo!
The Best: Unfortunately, I think such a thing defies description. So many things are based upon statistics, but many human attributes are not susceptible to such quantification. Perhaps you can put "The Best" in the same category as that in which U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart put pornography: "I know it when I see it."
Cheers.
If I gave this picture a caption, it would be "breathless".
Is there really a best? I mean, it seems there is always someone coming out with better, or being better. I'll have to ponder that one Carmi! Thanks for visiting the other day!
That's a great photo, Carmi.
I can't define "best", since it is different for each subject and each person.
Someone is "the best" when they understand you no matter what... like my husband, he gets me...
Again, an amazing, amazing photograph. My brother the skydiver would approve.
Great shot! I recently went skydiving and though I had a videographer, she wasn't able to capture an image like this!
I am finally back to blogging and did a new post on Vietnam you might find interesting!
What an amazing shot!
Thanks for stopping by my (almost wordless) One Single Impression post at Sacred Ruminations on Wednesday and leaving your thoughtful comment. I’m playing ‘catch-up’ today. Your WW ‘drowning’ photo did draw me in, but THIS one captured my imagination and lured me to leave a comment because it’s breathtaking! Thanks for sharing.
Hugs and blessings,
